- Patrick E. Lapointe, 84, entered into rest Monday evening April 17, 2017, at a Caribou hospital, following a long illness. He was born August 5, 1932, in Van Buren, a son of the late Chester and Mamie (Sirois) Lapointe.
Patrick served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean War, and was a long-time member of the American Legion, Post #49, Van Buren. He last worked for former DLCI Co. for several years and with former Rossignol Ski Co./ Simplex, Van Buren. During his previous years he worked with several potato farms in the Van Buren area. He enjoyed watching old western movies and reading, usually with a plate of sweets to munch on. He cherished music, and time he spent with his family, especially chasing around his grandson and great grandchildren.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 58 years, Omerine (Thibodeau) Lapointe of Van Buren; three children, Janice Lapointe of Van Buren, Lisa Lapointe and her husband Peter Kobylarz of Houlton, and Dana Lapointe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four siblings, Marlene Maldonado and her husband Ramon "Shorty" of Van Buren, Geneva Cole and her husband Gordon of Lynn, MA, Richard Lapointe and his wife Nicole of Van Buren, and Michael Lapointe and his wife Christine of Van Buren; one grandson, James Lapointe and his wife Jaci of Van Buren; two great grandchildren, Devin and Melonie; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Patrick was predeceased by three siblings, Joseph Lapointe, Elmer Lapointe and Claudette Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
