MILLINOCKET LAKE - Heaven gained a very special angel on April 17, 2015 when Patricia Rideout-Wedge died peacefully in her sleep. Patti was born September 29, 1943 in Millinocket, to Lloyd and Lucy (Myshrall) Rideout.
Patti lived her entire life in Millinocket, and she met her soul mate Larry before graduating from Stearns High School in 1961. She then attended and graduated from the University of Maine at Machias. She taught at Schenck High School for a brief period of time before going to work for Woodlands, a division of Great Northern Paper Company. Patti was an avid recreationist, enjoying the company of her girlfriends while bowling, playing softball and volleyball. She also enjoyed cross country skiing, snow shoeing, kayaking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren (two legged and four legged). She and Larry spent many hours boating on Millinocket Lake. She lived her life to the fullest. Patti had an upbeat and positive attitude even on the darkest of days. Her favorite quotes were, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!", and "I Hope You Dance". She offered many life lessons by the way she lived her life.
Patti is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Lawrence W. "Larry" Wedge of Millinocket Lake; two daughters, Sonya Wedge, and Tracy King and her husband Tim, all of Bangor; two grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, Trevor and Taylor King; seven siblings, Ken Rideout and his wife Anne, Mim Mountford and her husband Bob, Jane Jones, Edy Healey and her husband Bob, Donny Rideout, Mitzi Daggett and her husband Steve, and Butch Rideout and his wife Louise; five siblings in law, Bea Montgomery, Tom Ryan, Sarah and John Illingworth, Betty and Dick Bears, and Ken and Carol Wedge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Patti will also be missed by a special friend, Mamie Hobbs and the rest of the YaYas. In addition to her parents, Patti was predeceased by four siblings, Dick Rideout, Billy Rideout, Joyce Ryan, and Gail Pender; two siblings in law, Len Jones and Sumi Rideout, and a special friend, Nancy Pray.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6:30 - 9 P.M. Wednesday, April 22 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M.
