- Pamelia Westbrook Dowling went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the age of 84. She was born on September 23, 1932, in Chase Mills, East Machias, to Gilbert (known as Alvin) and Eva (Graham) Berry. She is survived by her (precious husband) Herbert; sons - Mark Dowling of Calais; Brian and wife Bonnie Dowling of Jacksonville; grandchildren - Kelly Dowling and friend- Barry Hartford; Bethany and husband, Dan Dorr; Eric Dowling and wife Angela and Dylan Dowling; great-grandchildren - Alexis Verburgt; Jordan Hartford; Kyle Dorr; a special nieces and nephew - Cindy and Don Cox; a special nephew and wife - Richard and Peggy Hatch - all of Massachusetts; a special brother-in-law and wife - Harry and Peg of Cathance; a special sister-in-law-Gail Dowling of Georgia; many family and friends, nearby and scattered over our great country.
She was predeceased by both of her parents and sister - Shirley Prendergast.
Pamelia began her education in a one-room schoolhouse in Chase Mills, continued in Portland, Cambridge, MA; East Machias, and graduated from South San Francisco, California. For many years, she lovingly cared for her family, always making sure the cookie jar was filled with their tasty and favorite cookies. She worked for CHCS for 28+ years and retired from that agency in 1998.
She was a member of Larrabee Baptist Church, singing with the choir for many years. She also enjoyed visiting many other local churches. She and her husband, Herb, volunteered for many summers, serving the Lord at the CEF Camp Good News in Livermore Falls. Going from Whitneyville to Northern Maine, she gave the Gospel message in song and made longtime friends along the way.
Visiting hours are scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2017, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court Street in Machias. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home in Machias. A reception for friends and family will immediately follow.
