Normand's Story

VAN BUREN - Normand J. Thibeault, 67, died unexpectedly Friday, May 15, 2015, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. He was born October 7, 1947 in St. Anne, NB, Canada, a son of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Berube) Thibeault.

He last worked with Thibeault & Thibeault Construction, Maryland, for many years, until his retirement in 2008. Normand owned and operated Thibeault Strawberry & Seafood, Van Buren, for over 16 years, selling strawberries and seafood from the family farm. Previously he worked as a mason and with Frito Lay. He was an avid gardener, planting many flowers and plants throughout his life. Mowing his lawn was one of his favorite activities. In his spare time, he like to play cards with his family and friends. Normand was always one to help anyone in need.

He is survived by: his wife of over 50 years, Yvonne (Beaupré) Thibeault of Van Buren; children, Daniel D. Thibeault and his wife Fabiola of Church Creek, MD, Melanie L. Thibeault of St. Leonard, NB, Canada, Alphy A. Thibeault and his wife Laura of Cambridge, MD, Bryan D. Thibeault and his wife Cindy of Van Buren, and Gabriel N. Thibeault of Church Creek, MD; three siblings, Armand "Blond" Thibeault and his wife Aline of Green River, NB, Canada, Gertrude Martin and her husband Real of St. Anne, NB, Canada, and Alfred "Zoon" Thibeault; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Normand is predeceased by two sons, Richard and Normand Thibeault Jr., four brothers, six sisters, and a granddaughter, Giselle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family 6-8 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015, and Saturday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
