- Naida Gallant, 87, of Glenburn, passed away Monday, February 15, 2018, at Orono Commons, after an extended illness. Naida was born January 24, 1931, in Milo, ME, to Irvin and Agnes Osgood.
She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Norris "Buddy" Osgood. She is survived by her sister, Norma McGinley of Bangor, ME; by her husband of 68 years, Lawrence Gallant; three sons, Lawrence Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Las Vegas, NV, Michael and his wife, Rachel, of Glenburn; and Alan and his partner, Lisa Mellilo, of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Christopher Gallant and Michael Gallant of Las Vegas, NV, Sean Gallant, Casey Gallant and Anastasia Gallant of Glenburn.
Naida was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of '49, after which she met and married her husband Lawrence, and began a life of service to her community holding many elected positions for the town of Glenburn, including town clerk, tax collector, and first acting town manager. She co-authored the History of the Town of Glenburn with Clyde G." Sonny" Berry, also of Glenburn. She also served in every office in the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church and wrote the church history.
In a final act of service, she donated her body to the University of New England. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church, 911 Hudson Road, Glenburn, ME 04401. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
