Text size

Presque Isle - Muriel ("Pat") LeVasseur passed away on October 20, 2016 in Presque Isle, Maine. Pat was born on May 17, 1919 in Chapman, and was the elder daughter of the late Thomas and Beulah (Haines) Paterson of Washburn.

Pat was a graduate of Washburn High School and the School of Cosmetology in Bangor. In 1940, she married Solomon (Saul) LeVasseur of Ft. Fairfield, son of William and Sophie (Caron) LeVasseur. Saul predeceased Pat in 1997.

Pat was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, always putting the needs of her family above her own. She was a positive and joyful force in the lives of her many friends, family members, neighbors and caretakers, remaining cheerful, helpful and understanding to the end. After retirement, Pat and Saul were "happy nomads". They enjoyed living and making friends in many locations along the East Coast: Madawaska Lake, ME; Hightstown NJ; Nyack, Pomona, and Montgomery NY; Sarasota and Wildwood, FL; Blairsville, GA; and Westfield, MA.

Pat was predeceased by her younger sister, Dathaline (Day) Brewer and Day's husband, Vaughn (Bud) Brewer, of Caribou.

Pat is survived by her two children, Linda Seymour Barlow of West Milford NJ and William (Bill) LeVasseur and his wife, Heidi, of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Surviving grandchildren and great grandchildren are: Stephanie Seymour and her husband, Robert Perry; Jeffrey Seymour and his wife, Karin and children Jackson, Samuel and Sophia; Adam LeVasseur and his wife, Lee and their children Luke, Nora and Grayson; Jason LeVasseur and his wife, Laura and their children, Lilly and Josephine; Andrew LeVasseur and his wife, Emily and their children, Molly and Drew. Pat is also survived by her loving nieces, Barbara Brewer Davis and Karen Brewer Kovach of Caribou.

In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate donations to the American Heart Association in Pat's memory.
