Mona's Story

LINCOLN - Mona L. Davis, 81, wife of Gerald A. Davis, passed away March 13, 2015, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born April 2, 1933, in Lincoln, the daughter of Herbert and Ida (LaBree) Bailey.

Mona grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1951 and continued her education, attending Mt. Ida College in Newton Center, Mass. and Husson College, in Bangor. For a few years, Mona worked for Sproul & Vose, in Lincoln, and then went to work for Bangor Hydro Electric Co., where she retired from after 21 years of service. Faith and family were the center of her life. Mona was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Lincoln and of Pilgrim Daughters. In her younger years she was active in the Lincoln Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. On July 10th, 1981, she married the love of her life, Gerald Davis. Together, they spent many happy summers at their camp on the Big Narrows and traveling, especially to St. Andrews, NB and Southwest Harbor. Mona loved knitting and carving, but mostly, spending time with her grandchildren, reading to them and playing board games.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Steven Taylor and his wife, Debbie and Stephanie Stanley and her husband, Steve; two step-children, Jerry Davis and Brenda, and Carmen Davis and Al; grandchildren, Candis Seile and her husband, Mike, Christin Dubois and her husband, Rick, Emma Stanley and Mick, Jodie, Hailey and Shay Stanley; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Katelyn Seile and Abby and Carter Dubois; and several nieces and nephews.

Mona's family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Acres and Hospice for the excellent care she received.
