FORT FAIRFIELD - Minard A. "Mike" Glew, 80, husband of Doris E. (Turner) Glew, passed away Friday morning October 17, 2014 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born May 10, 1934 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Gordon Sr. and Mary (Donovan) Glew. Mike was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1953 and had been employed by the M.C. Locke Company, Fort Fairfield for a number of years. He later became employed by the A & P, later Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield for 25 years and retired from J.M. Huber Engineered Wood Products Company, Easton after ten years of employment. He was a Master Freemason, originally affiliated with the former Fort Fairfield Frontier Masonic Lodge and was currently a member of the Limestone Masonic Lodge Number 214 AF & AM. Mike was also a member of the Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor and was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels for several years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Glew was predeceased by his first wife Doris Kenneson Glew on April 20, 1969; two brothers, George Glew and Gordon Glew Jr.; six sisters, Maxine McKay, Elva Hamilton, Gloria Page, Marilla Gambrell, Jane Ann Glew and Diane Toner. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Doris E. Glew of Fort Fairfield; one son, George A. Glew of Fort Fairfield and his fiancé Ashley Renaud of Presque Isle; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa A. and Maurice Delano of John Day, OR; one step-daughter, Pamela Keene of Pittsfield, NH; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis and Maida Glew of Long Lake, Fred and Jane Glew of Fort Fairfield and South Carolina; sister-in-law Mrs. Gordon Glew Jr. (Lillian) of Fort Fairfield; brother-in-law Omar Toner of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren, Logan Delano of John Day, OR, Benjamin Glew Dye of Fontana, CA, Keegan and Kallum Glew both of Presque Isle; five step-grandchildren, Angela Shanyo, Amanda and Kristen Keene, all of New Hampshire, Natalie and E.J. Renaud, both of Presque Isle; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by the officers of the Limestone Masonic Lodge Number 214 AF & AM. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mike to the Limestone United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2 Burleigh Street, Limestone, Maine 04750.
