SHERMAN MILLS, OLD TOWN, GORHAM, AND OCALA, FLA. - Millie Dickinson Lord passed away on June 5, 2015 at Springbrook Center for Health Care & Rehabilitation. Born in Sherman Mills on August 17, 1920 she was the youngest of six children of Wilmot and Etta Dickinson.

She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Moses S. Lord (2009), son Alan (1989), brother Donald Dickinson and sisters Eva Dickinson, Hilda Giddings, Vera McMoarn and Vivian Karnes.

She is survived by her son Roger and daughter-in-law Judi and her grandchildren Peter and his wife Rebecca Larson of Washington DC, and Adam of Bowdoinham.

After graduating from Sherman High School, she moved to Old Town to work as a housekeeper for Moses L. Jordan Jr. where she met her husband and resided in Old Town for more than 40 years. Millie was active in the Saint James Episcopal Church and was a devoted homemaker, excellent cook and always available and willing to assist her children and husband no matter what the task. Upon her husband's retirement she and Moses wintered in Ocala Florida for 13 years and spent their summers at Schoodic Lake in Lake View Plantation before permanently moving back to Maine, residing briefly at the Betsy Ross House in South Portland and eventually taking up permanent residence at the Gorham House.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residence of Gorham House for making her last few years comfortable and enjoyable and a special thanks to the nursing staff at Springbrook for all their care and compassion.

A private memorial service will be held at Lawndale Cemetery in Stillwater at a date yet to be determined. Arrangements by Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
