- Michael Thomas Whorton, beloved son of Charles and Myra, born April 27, 1983, passed into eternal peace under God's care, September 4, 2017.
A graduate of Orono HS, 2001, with honors, received his BA in English, Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA, Cum Laude, 2005, completed his Master's degree with high honors in Anglophone Civilization at Universite de Rennes 2 in Rennes, France, 2010.
While doing his semester abroad as an undergraduate, he met the love of his life and future companion, Aurelie. Most of Mike's adult life was spent living and working in France. He was English language assistant at Jean Brito High School in Bain-de-Bretagne, France 2007-2008, then was an Instructor of English at the University Technological Institute in Rennes, France, where he organized a student/professor exchange between the Institute and Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, ME, 2008-2010.
In 2010, Mike and Aurelie moved to Paris, France, where he worked at St. John's University Paris Association, starting as a Coordinator of Student Life and advanced to Residence Director and Campus Manager until July 2015.
He spent much of his time traveling in Europe (he could have been a tour guide). His other interests included music, loved Phish Radio, astronomy (he knew all the constellations by heart), golf, cooking, movies, reading, and time spent with friends. Two good friends from France, Erwann and Nico, had just returned to France after visiting him and spending a week at Silver Lake, Lee, ME, prior to Mike's passing.
Mike is survived by his parents, Charlie and Myra, his brother, Matthew and fiancée, Liz, his adored niece, Nora, his grandmother, Carolyn (Kay) Drisko, Aunt Patty Boss, Uncle Tom Whorton, and Uncle William (Stephen) Drisko and his wife, Kelley, and many cousins.

A celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
