Caribou - Merilda Moir, 83, went to be with our Lord on Friday Morning, January 13, 2017, with her family at her side. This occurred after a period of declining health at an Auburn healthcare facility. She was born October 4, 1933, the daughter of John and Emily (Chalout) Beaulieu of Connor. Merilda was a graduate of Caribou High School, class of 1951. She married Thomas Moir Jr. on January 7, 1951, in Caribou. Together they had 3 children.
She was a stay at home Mom while her children were growing up. She then worked part time as a housekeeper at different motels in Caribou. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was happiest when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came to visit. Merilda was predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers, Salneau, Joel, Elrick, and Roger, at a young age, and one sister, Priscilla Brochu. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Andrew Moir, her three children, Wayne Moir and fiancé Sherry, Gary Moir and wife Lori, and Tammy Moir Ringdahl and husband Ric, 4 grandchildren, Marcus Moir, Amber Moir Greenleaf, Adam Moir, and Danielle Ringdahl Pickrell, 6 great-grandchildren, Ariel Moir, Zander Moir, Lyric Greenleaf, Skye Moir, Hunter Pickrell, and Vera Pickrell. She is also survived by a brother, Eudore Beaulieu, and a sister Gloria Beaulieu Pelletier. Besides being with family, she enjoyed shopping and being with her friend Lorraine Hemberg, and sister-in-law, Nancy Moir Wyman.
A celebration of Merilda's life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Washburn Road, Caribou.
