Maxine was born on February 27th, 1926, in Milbridge, Maine and was the daughter of Charles and Jennie Burgess of Milbridge. Maxine packed sardines at Ray's Fishery for over fifty years of her life. The holidays were special to her as it gave her a chance to cook and see all the children whom she loved dearly. She could be found on a Saturday night with her sisters playing Bingo and eating a red hot dog while sipping a cup of black coffee. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Carter, her daughter, Cynthia Stanwood, and son, Willard Carter Jr., as well as four brothers and six sisters.
