- Mary Louise (Baker) Overcash, 89, of Lincolnville, Maine and Brookline, MA, died peacefully in her sleep January 15, 2018, at Life Care Center of Acton, Acton Massachusetts. Her husband of 66 years, John Rosson Overcash, Sr. died April 14th of last year.
She is survived by her children J. Rosson, Jr. his wife, Patricia of Ayer, MA and Martha Overcash of St. Louis, MO, her three grandchildren, Shannon K. Overcash of Franklin, MA, Branden K. Overcash of Ayer, MA and Libby Steiner, her husband Dan of St. Louis, MO, and her two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Madeline Valverde of Franklin, MA.
Mary Lou was born in Lansdowne, PA. She and her mother moved to Providence, R.I. when she was three where she lived with her aunt and her grandmother. Mary Lou graduated from Hope High School and Chamberlain School of Retailing.
Mary Lou loved doing for others and being with her family. She was involved in many activities in the town of Brookline where she and Ross raised their family. As both a cub scout and girl scout leader she made sure her scouts took advantage of every opportunity offered and encouraged them to achieve their goals. She was involved in her children's education and volunteered on a regular basis at the Edward Devotion School. Mary Lou worked tirelessly in many capacities at All Saints Episcopal Church where the family worshiped each week.
In 1985, Mary Lou and Ross sold their home in Brookline, MA and moved to Lincolnville, ME where they ran The Red House, a bed and breakfast, the perfect job for Mary Lou as she loved to entertain and be around people. She also became active in the local church, and various women's groups. Visitation is on Saturday January 20, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd, Ayer, MA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions to be made in her name to the Girl Scouts of Maine, 138 Gannett Drive South Portland, ME 04106 or the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, 420 Boylston Stt, Suite 505, Boston, MA 02116.
