Mary's Story

HOWLAND - Mary E Dunn 65, long-time resident of the Howland area died Monday the 27th of April 2015 after a long battle of cancer. She was surrounded by her family and in the loving arms of her sister Robbie as she passed away peacefully at Cummings Health Care Facility. Born September 13, 1949, the daughter of Donald and Evelyn (Longley) Dunn. She graduated from Penobscot Valley High School in 1968 and joined the United States Women's Army Corps (WAC). While serving her country at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., she served as a Secretary to a Major. Mary returned home and followed her passion of becoming a hairdresser. She graduated from Mansfield Beauty Academy and worked many years doing what she loved best for all her family and friends. She also worked at the Old Town Shoe Factory and the Howland Enfield Federal Credit Union.

Mary is lovingly remembered and survived by her mother, Evelyn Dunn of Howland; brother, Danny and his wife Brenda Dunn of Howland; sister, Robbie and her husband Greg Delano of Howland. Although she did not have any children of her own, she will always be remembered as an amazing aunt to her nieces and nephews; Daniel and his wife Amanda Dunn and their children Colin and Caiden of Howland; Brandi and her husband Troy Smith and their son Owen of Lincoln; Donnie Delano and his significant other, Candace Mushero and their children, Donnie (DJ) and Emilee of Lincoln; Randy Clint Delano of Howland. She holds a very special place in our hearts and will be sadly missed by all. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Cummings Health Care Facility, Jill Bouchard and Cherrie Martin of Community Health & Counseling Hospice for their unconditional support during her final days.

Interment will be held at the Howland Cemetery on Sunday, May 17th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cummings Health Care Facility - Activities Center Fund. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.bangordailynews.com
