Bangor - On June 8th, 2017 Mary passed on to be reunited in heaven with her only son, Paul Cocuzza, her oldest grandson, Geoffrey Boring, and her husband, Hayward (Pete) M Sayre. While on earth she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and lifetime advocate for Veterans and others in need. Dedicating decades of her life to the DAV AXILLARY in Alabama and Georgia. She initiated and coordinated a Veteran Transport program in Waycross, GA and took part in numerous program initiatives and fundraisers for Veterans.
Mary leaves behind her two loving daughters: Mary Volney of East Stroudsburg, PA and Angela Cocuzza of Brewer, ME. Her loving daughter-in-law, Ashley St. Louis of Brewer, ME who refers to her as "Mama Mary". Her 3 grandkids: Christopher El Kasas of Albrightsville, PA, Ashley Cocuzza of Philadelphia, PA, and her heart: Jalen (KJ) Gordon of Brewer, ME. Her siblings: Ann "Nancy" Hill, Traci Murphy, and John Fischbach.
And her many dear friends: Myra her very best friend, Becky, Johnny, Bonnie, and many others residing in Alabama. As well as the many friends, she found at her new home of Sunbury Village. Her caregiver and friend, Regina Smith, thank you from all the family for your devotion, caring for her during a difficult time.
In honoring Mary's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family asks any donations be made in her memory to the DAV.
