DOVER-FOXCROFT - Martha A. Schwarz, 93, wife of the late Francis G. Schwarz, died May 16, 2014, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born December 20, 1920, in Sebec, the daughter of Seaforth B. and Grace L. (Hager) Dickson. She was a graduate of Milo High School, Class of 1939, and Trull Hospital School of Nursing in Biddeford. Martha served in the Army Nurse Corp in Europe during World War II and in the US Air Force with assignments in North Africa, Japan, Texas, and Dow Air Force Base in Maine.
Martha was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft United Church of Christ, the Women's Community Garden Club, the Junior Cosmopolitan Club, a life member of the Military Officers Association of America, and a life member and historian of American Legion Post No. 29 of Dover-Foxcroft.
She is survived by her beloved son, Mark F. Schwarz and his wife, Tara, of Yorktown, VA; two grandchildren, Jaxom David Schwarz and Kiera Elizabeth Schwarz of Yorktown, VA; a beloved sister, Phyllis D. Weatherbee of Dover-Foxcroft; a nephew, David Weatherbee and his wife, Marie, of Millinocket; a great-niece, Beth Weatherbee and her daughter, Vanessa Cousins, of Dover-Foxcroft; and a great-nephew, Heath Weatherbee of Hawaii.
A private committal service for the family will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. According to Martha's wishes, a portion of her ashes will be buried in the family lot in Sebec Corner Cemetery.
