- Marilyn Edith Moores Sutherland passed away Nov. 5, 2016, in Lincoln. She was born in Carroll, Maine, June 15, 1930, to Ernest and Virginia (Fenlason) Moores. After her parents passed she was brought up from six by her grandparents Eva Bailey and step-grandfather P. Henry Bailey.
Marilyn did her freshman year of high school in Portland and returned to graduate from Lee Academy in Lee, Maine. She worked for many years in the banking industry for North East, Fleet and Bank of America from which she retired. She also worked in the Lincoln Town Library. Marilyn enjoyed camping, especially with the family on Bar Island where many a lobster was enjoyed; coffee at McDonald's with the ladies was a highlight of her day as was playing dominos with the girls. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Lincoln for many years where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Pilgrim Daughters and cooked many potatoes for the Riverdriver's Supper.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ray; a sister, Avis Fleck, of Windham; sons, James and his wife, Brenda, of Lincoln and Bruce and his wife, Ramona, of Gorham; five grandchildren, Jessie and Todd Chessie, of Erving, Mass, Joshua and his wife, Sarah, of Lincoln, William and fiancée, Shelby Hogan, of Gorham, and twins, Amy and Nicole, of Gorham; also a step-grandson, Eric Nystrom of Kwajalein Atoll, The Republic of the Marshall Islands; four great-grandchildren, Myka Wotton and Laken Chessie, of Erving, Mass and Jackson and Ava Sutherland, of Lincoln and a great-granddaughter on the way. Marilyn loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every minute she had with them. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents, four brothers, Phillip, Frances, Hollis and Carroll and one sister, Evelyn.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev Darrell Joiner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Congregational Church of Lincoln. Online condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
