- Marilyn Swallow Giles passed away February 1st, 2017, in Simsbury, CT. She was the widow of Duane Harris Giles. Marilyn was born in Houlton, Maine, on February 2, 1928, the daughter of Mary (Sherman) Swallow and John Swallow. She graduated from Oakfield High School in 1944 and attended Maine School of Commerce (now known as Husson College). Her career began with Bangor and Aroostook Railroad as a secretary and she retired from Fleet Bank as a secretary in the Trust Department. Her joys in life were playing piano and organ, avid and active sportsperson, knitting, travel and especially cribbage tournaments with friends at the Hammond Street Senior Center.
She is survived by son, Michael Giles, daughter, Gail Bates, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great grandchildren.
Those who wish may make a donation in her memory to the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, 450 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401. Please designate the donation be used for Recreational Programs.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in the Spring.
