NEWBURGH - Marilyn Rhea McSorley Campbell, 82, passed away peacefully March 5, 2014, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born June 21, 1931, in Newburgh, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy McSorley Boyington.
Marilyn attended Hampden Academy for three years and received her G.E.D. in 1985. She worked at BMHI, and for 30 years in local shoe factories. Marilyn ended her working career at Marden's. Marilyn loved feeding birds, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and just being in the out of doors. After the passing of her husband Philip Campbell in 1977, she later met her companion of 28 years Harry Hoskins and they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, camping, fishing and digging clams at Lamoine State Park.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Michael Campbell; two grandchildren, Christopher and Michelle; sister, Brenda McCown and her significant other, Wallace Edward Lord; brother-in-law, Larry Morse; sister-in-law, Glennis McSorley; several nieces, nephews, friends; and Harry's son, Scott Hoskins. Marilyn will miss her family and friends and sends her love to all. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Philip; companion, Harry; one sister, Charlene Morse; and two brothers, Earle and Wendall McSorley.
Private interment will be in the springtime at Chapman Cemetery, Newburgh. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
