Marguerite's Story

OLD TOWN - Marguerite "Maggie" Theresa (Legace) Adams, 83, passed away peacefully at Ross Manor September 18, 2015, after a long a courageous battle with cancer. Marguerite was born in Old Town June 7, 1932, the daughter of James and Marie (Delong) Legace.

Marguerite grew up in Old Town and worked for several of the shoe shops in Old Town and Bangor, retiring from Ansewn Shoe. She enjoyed playing cards, was a member of Tops, and was a mall walker, and loved to go out dancing with Bill. She was passionate about her friends, loved to socialize, and she was a warm hearted person who will be missed by many.

Marguerite is survived by her sister Charlene Carpenter and her husband Joe of Tewksbury, MA, and her longtime friends Sharon and Elwyn Jackson, Fran and Ken Mishou, Brenda Crouse, Eleanor and Harry Perkins, Louise Depew, Marie Jandreau, Pat and Bob Shirley; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Adams; her companion Willie "Bill" Jackson; her brother Roger Legace; her sisters Rose Bailey and Yvonne Norbert.

A celebration of life service will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town, with Rev. David Gardiner, officiating. Friends may call from 11am until time of service. A time of refreshment and continued fellowship will follow at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono.

In lieu of flowers and carrying out Marguerite's wishes, she asked all donations to be made to the Bangor Humane Society 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. A special thanks to Hospice of Eastern Maine and Ross Manor for their excellent care of Marguerite.
