- Margaret Palmer, 70, died on December 11, 2017, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
She was born on August 4, 1947, in Presque Isle, a daughter of Robert and Arlene (Kempton) O'Brien. She was raised in Ashland and graduated from high school there. After marrying Robert R. Palmer on March 7, 1969, she was a service man's wife for fourteen of his 20 year military career.
After he retired, she became a paralegal and worked as a CNA with the elderly. Her favorite job was manager of the seafood department at Shaw's Supermarket on Main Street in Bangor. She enjoyed the regular customers and made several close friends through her work. Margaret was a member of the Newport Church of God.
She is survived by two children, James of Augusta and Jan of Arizona; four grandchildren, Isabel, Jason and Kevin Palmer and Jeremy Weymouth; and a niece, Tracy Libby.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband; a son, Jayson; and a brother, Billy O'Brien.
A memorial service will be held after Christmas at the Newport Church of God. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Spring interment will be next to her husband at the Palmyra Village Cemetery.
