CARMEL - CARMEL - Margaret Marie Hand, 79, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at a Bangor hospital following a short period of ill health. She was born in Waterville, Maine, February 11, 1936, the daughter of Clarence A. and Vivian M. (Murray) Peters. She was educated at Hampden Academy.
Marie was employed as a cook at the Caravel Jr. High School in Carmel, The House of Blarney in Carmel and at the Seafood Galley in Carmel.
Marie enjoyed playing bingo, knitting and crocheting items for her family and friends. She was well known for her pie baking. Her famous pies and baked goods were sought after and enjoyed by everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Kevan B. Hand Sr. of Carmel; four sons, Kevan B. Hand Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Iowa, Louisiana, Jeffrey A. Hand and his wife, Pamella, of Carmel, Marvin L. Hand of Newport and Hal W. Hand of Stetson; four daughters, Wanda L. Wood of Penobscot, Robin A. Young of Brewer, Valerie L. Porter and her husband, Jay, of Levant and Carla J. Miller of Carmel; one brother, Clarence A. Peters Jr. of Veazie; one sister, Winifred A. Peters of Bangor; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Marie Hand, in 1960; and a sister, Lucy Ouellete, in 2013. She will also be remembered by many special family members and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Highland Cemetery in Carmel, Maine, with the Rev. Mark Rustin officiating.
