Major Bruce's Story

Marlboro, NJ - Major Bruce B. Brown, Sr., 89, formerly of Hermon, ME, passed away, Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the Sunrise Assisted Living, Marlboro, NJ. He was born in Brownville Junction, ME, to the late Edward J. and Bessie (Bennett) Brown. Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Major. He served during the Korean War, where he flew B52 bombers. After his military retirement, he worked as an officer for Merrill Trust Company, and later Fleet Bank, Bangor, ME. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hermon, Maine.
Bruce was also predeceased by his siblings, Helen, Charles, and Wayne Brown, and one grandson, Robert. He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence L. (Lyford) Brown of Marlboro; his loving children, Lisa Kennedy and her husband Donald of Matawan, NJ; Amber Brown of Weymouth, MA; Bruce Brown, Jr. of Waldwick, NJ; and Perley Brown of Duluth, GA; siblings, Beverly Roberts of Monson, ME; Flora Anderson of Monson, ME, and Dale Brown of Kittery, ME; four cherished grandchildren, Christian, Kami, Trista, and Joshua; and ten great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
At the request of Bruce's family, he will be privately cremated. Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735, was entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
