Mabel's Story

LINCOLN - Mabel E. Dill, 83, wife of the late Byron Dill Sr., passed away May 3, 2014 at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born April 17, 1931, in Webster Plantation, the daughter of George Alfred and Kate (McAlpine) Smith.

Mabel loved to knit and crochet. Her handiwork was known to be sent all over the world. She was a very good cook and loved to attend Christmas parties and family reunions.

She is survived by six children, Debbie Bouchard, Paul Dill, Rhonda Kimball, Brenda Elllingwood, Bernice Dill and his wife, Sherry and Byron Dill, Jr., and his fiancée, Laura; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ivan Smith, Mayland Smith and Herbert Smith; two sisters, Eleanor Webster and Dorothy Dill; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Loretta Lyn, a great-grandson, Wyatt, brothers, Merlin, Earl, Elmer, Lester and Al Smith and a sister, Beatrice Severance.

Friends may call from noon to time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. The Rev. Jack Hyland will officiate. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
