Lowell's Story

MACHIAS - Lowell R. "PUD" Hayward, Jr., 91, passed away Oct. 25, 2015 at Marshall Healthcare with his loving family by his side. He was born Oct. 18, 1924 in Wesley the son of the late Christine (Day) and Lowell Hayward Sr.

He was a truck driver for Eastern Pulp Co., as well as for St. Regis. He retired as night watchman from the University of Maine at Machias.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Isabell; a stepson Richard ;brothers Richard and Julian, and a sister Angie Cox.

He is survived by his sisters Vivian Leighton of FL and Barbara Gay of Machias; daughters - Penny Curtis and Patty Smith; stepsons -Lee Grinell and Jimmy Grinell; special grandson Alan Curtis and grandson Ryan Stanhope; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at Marshall Healthcare for his excellent care he received, while he was there.

A Celebration of his life will be held 1 pm Sun. Nov. 8, 2015 at the Kay Parker Building, 26 Hadley Lake Rd. Machias.
