Louise's Story

CARIBOU AND GARDINER - Louise B. Cyr, 92, wife of the late Lucien J. Cyr passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, March 7, 2016 at Ross Manor, Bangor ME surrounded by her family. She was born February 18, 1924 in Bath, ME, the daughter Alfred M. and Gladys L. (Young) Oliver.

Louise and Lucien were married Jan 4, 1942 in Bath. After WWII, they made their home in Somerville Mass before moving to Lucien's home town of Caribou Maine in 1947where they made their home on Limestone Street.

Louise had been a devout member of both the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Caribou and St Joseph's Catholic Church of Gardiner ME.

In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband; her sister, Lena Lewis; and brothers Clarence, Donnie, Kenneth, and Richard. She is survived by all 10 of her children: sons, Jim and wife Pauline of Ft Myers FL, Dennis of East Hartford CT, Ray and wife Donna of Woodland ME, Doug of San Diego CA, Peter and wife Beverly of Chicopee MA, John of Manchester CT, Steve of Waterville ME, Tim and wife Joyce of Penobscot ME; and daughters Carol Pye and husband Harry of Seal Harbor ME and Susan Chase of Hampden ME; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, with two special nieces, Cathy Brown and Theresa Folsom both of Randolph ME.

A memorial service celebrating Louise's life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 11:00 a.m. at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner. Online condolences may be expressed at www.staplesfuneralhome.com. A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Louise to the charity of their choice.
