Louis's Story

FORT FAIRFIELD - Louis B. Good, 86, husband of the late Gertrude Good, passed away January 27, 2015 at a Presque Isle nursing facility. He was born June 4, 1928 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Loomis F. and Dorothy (Green) Good. Louis attended Fort Fairfield High School and shortly thereafter began potato farming, retiring after more than fifty years. In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife Gertrude on March 16, 2000; two sons, John Andrew in 1961 and an infant son in 1956; his sister Geraldine (Good) Fowler. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie (Good) DeMerchant of Bangor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brock and Barbara Good of Fort Fairfield, and David and Susan Good of Bangor; seven grandchildren and spouses, Cathryn (DeMerchant) Sherman of Orono, Donald DeMerchant of Bethel, Amy DeMerchant of Portland, Brock Good II and Corinna of Fort Fairfield, Beverly and Danny Cyr of Crestview, Florida, Stephanie Good of Brunswick and Kristi and Jeff Leadbetter of Bangor; six great grandchildren, Chelsea and Allison Sherman, Kelsey and Arinne Cyr, Caitlin and Brock (Trey) Good III; a great great grandson, Brantley. The family extends sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at the Presque Isle Nursing Home and to Dr. Eric Nicholas for the wonderful care Louis received. Friends may call Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Spring interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Good to the Vasculitis Foundation, P.O.
