Lee - Lloyd W. Mallett, 96, died June 4, 2017, at home with family and friends by his side. He was born March 24, 1921, in Lee, the son of Hollis and Helena Mallett.
He was predeceased by brothers Howard and Ivan; sister Myra; first wife Rosemary; and second wife, Lela. Lloyd went to Lee Academy and Maine School of Commerce. There, he met and married Rosemary Tippin and they raised four children. He served in the US Navy in WWII on the USS Helena. In 1945, he and brother Howard partnered in running Mallett's Mill. Later in life Lloyd and son Stephen formed the corporation and worked together for years.
Lloyd never retired. He was fire chief in Lee for decades. He was also raised a Master Mason at Forest Lodge in Springfield. He had a full life of hard work, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He supplied lumber for houses and cabins all over Penobscot County and beyond.
He is survived by his children, Gloria Jacob and Glen, Robert and Jesse, Brian and Wanda and Stephen and Lucie; step-daughters, Jackie Seamans and Jeannie Simpson; a special sister, Ruth Taylor; his grandchildren, Holly Okeson, Beth Clark, Donald Jacob, Hilary Mank, Katherine Mallett, Kristen McLaughlin, Samantha, Brigette and Hollis Mallett, Lauren LaBrie, Rebecca Jacques, Brittany Mallett, Amie Bui and Jason Mallett; his nieces, nephews, great- and great-great grandchildren were a joy to Papa Lloyd. Two loyal friends have been Sherrie and Mike Bourgoin over many years and so many other neighbors, always bringing goodies and checking on him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. July 1 at Mallett Hall in Lee. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Lee Academy 9-12 Scholarship. Online condolences may be expressed at clayfuneralhome.com.
