Lloyd's Story

BREWER - Lloyd B. Doughty, 87, passed away July 18, 2015. He was born in Bangor, March 7, 1928, son of Charles F. and Mary Ella (Bryant) Doughty, Sr.

Lloyd lived most of his life in Brewer and attended the Brewer schools. He served in the Seabees in the U.S. Navy stationed on Guam, during WW II. He worked as a hand-sewer at Viner Bros. and Bangor Shoe Co. for many years. He also worked at Eastern Fine Paper, Inc. and retired after 21 years there.

Lloyd enjoyed gardening and was proud of his garden. More than anything else, he loved his family and his family was the center of his life. He looked forward to family gatherings. Lloyd loved his two grandsons, Jason and Jeffrey Dority. He always loved to attend their baseball games and school functions. He also loved his two great-granddaughters, Ella and Lyla Dority.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 64 years, of Brewer; two daughters, Beverly A. Dority of Bangor, and Debbie of Brewer; two grandsons, Jason A. Dority and wife, Rebecca of Aledo, TX., and Jeffrey A. Dority of Portland, OR; two great granddaughters, Ella and Lyla Dority of Aledo, TX; a brother-in-law, Robert Washburn of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Cook and her husband, Ronald of Winterport, and several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, four sisters, Grace, Cecelia, Florence and Rena; six brothers,Lawrence, Charles, Jr., Merton, John, William and Clifford.

The family extends special thanks to Beacon Hospice, who so compassionately made sure his life ended with comfort.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday July 27, 2015 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St. Brewer, where relatives and friends are invited to call 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
