Liam's Story

EASTPORT - Liam Wyston Rollo Casement, 39, of Eastport passed away on September 16, 2014. He was born in Bangor on March 10, 1975, the son of Douglas Kendall and Rose Anne (Miller) Casement. He spent his early childhood on the family farm in Dixmont, then moved to Eastport, where he fell in love with the sea. He graduated from MDI High School in 1993 and attended Boat School briefly before becoming a sailor and explorer of the world. An avid voyager, he was proud to be a member of the Sailors Union of the Pacific, working both in San Francisco Bay and shipping around the world. He had recently returned home to Eastport, where he was enjoying a quiet life at the edge of the Atlantic. He was a Renaissance man. He enjoyed acting during his young adult years, and he played the title role in Jesus Christ, Superstar in high school. His musical talents of singing and playing guitar and banjo led to gigs on both coasts. He had recently developed his painting skills, and had been featured in art shows in San Francisco. He was a skilled storyteller. He was deeply connected to his Irish and Scottish roots, and was proud to be a distant relative of Sir Roger Casement. He was a good son, a beloved brother, and a friend to everyone he met. He was "Big" to his siblings and "Unky" to his nieces and nephews. He is lovingly missed by his parents, who were so proud of him, Rose Casement and Douglas Casement, and their respective partners, Howa Furrow, and Sara Robinson; two brothers, Sean Casement and Camden FurrowCasement; four sisters, Jessamyn Angelastro, Meghan Black (Chris), Bronwyn Casement, and Annaliese FurrowCasement; four nephews, Valis VanderLinden-Casement, Paolo and Alexsandro DiCosta, and Jackson Black; three nieces, Kathryn and Isabella Black, and Ardis Casement; one aunt, Lynn Esmailzadeh (Kazem), one uncle, Randy Casement (Naomi), several cousins, and a multitude of friends in Maine, California, Costa Rica, and around the world.
