Leona's Story

OLD TOWN - Leona L. Ouellette, 84, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2014 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her loving family. Leona was born on July 22, 1930 in Old Town, the daughter of the late Albert Cote and Alphonsine (Russell) Cote.

Leona was a member and communicant of Holy Family Parish. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked as an inspector at Old Town Shoe Factory. Leona's favorite hobby was her family and all that was happening with them, it was her main joy.

Leona is survived and missed by her children, daughters, Faye Ramsey and husband, Richard, Joan Currier, Janet Dawson and husband, Phil, Tracie LeVasseur and significant other, Ray Bement, Karen Hoxie and husband, Chris; son, Roland Ouellette and fiancée, Jen Becker; grandchildren, Sean Currier and wife, Stephanie, Jeffery Conary, Erin Dawson and significant other, Nick Chase, Byron Ouellette, Allisha Ouellette and significant other, Rob Ouellette, Victoria Ouellette, Cody LeVasseur, Christopher Hoxie and Noah Hoxie; great-grandchildren, Colby Currier, Rachel Harris and Spencer Harris. Special grand-dog, Brandy. Sister, Loretta Levesque; sisters-in-law, Delores Ouellette, Rose Dube and Lucille Breau; brother-in-law, Edward Ouellette, special nephew, Albert Levesque and special nieces, Joyce Brissette, Bonnie Arsenault, Barbara Blair, Paulette Legassie, and many other nieces and nephews. Leona was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Alphonsine Cote and her husband, Roland Ouellette in 1987 and a granddaughter, Jill Ramsey in 1990. She was also predeceased by sisters, Evelyn Jarvis, Rose Shirland, Denise Pelletier and Anita Theriault and brothers, Raymond Cote, Leon Cote, David Cote and Dennis Cote. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the CCU nursing staff and the Support Services at EMMC for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Leona to the Holy Family Parish food pantry, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468. Visiting hours will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home, Monday, Sept. 15th, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16th, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with graveside services to immediately follow at St Joseph's Cemetery in Old Town. There will be a luncheon immediately following the services in the Holy Family Parish Hall, and all are asked to attend.
