MOLUNKUS TWP - Leona (Lee) Cecile McMoarn, 75, went home to her heavenly family on December 27, 2015. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends, passing on peacefully at her home in Molunkus. Leona was born February 3, 1940, in Chicago Illinois, the youngest of four children born to Cyrus Delano Nason and Jenny Elisabeth (Eckstrom) Nason.
She graduated from Patten Academy, class of 1958. During her senior year, she met and married a handsome sailor and the love of her life, Harold Nelson McMoarn of Sherman. They were married on February 15, 1958 in Benedicta. The young couple moved to Chicago where the family grew to include four sons. The family returned to Maine in 1972 and settled in Molunkus. A strong, indomitable, loving woman whose family and friends meant the world to her. Leona's friends were lifelong and she would do anything for them and them for her. Leona loved and was loved by many. Her home was always the center of gravity for family, friends and the neighborhood kids. Over the years she touched many lives and acquired many surrogate sons and daughters. She will be remembered by all for her love, kindness, and support. We shall miss her and love her forever.
Leona is survived by her four sons: Verne & wife, Phalia (Gramling), of Chester, Shawn & wife, June (Farrar), of Molunkus, Michael & wife, Patricia (Carroll), of Saco, and Scott McMoarn of Molunkus; Eight grand children: Jenny & husband, Wade Pezzullo, of Rumford RI., Maggie & husband, Ray Hutchinson, of Carthage, Colleen McMoarn of Chester, Shawn Jr. & wife, Sheena (Waltz), of Bangor, Valerie & husband, Ryan Prue, of Bangor, Travis McMoarn of Clifton, Lacy and Ashlee McMoarn of Portland; Seven great grandchildren: Enzo, Luca, Emilee, Irene, Tanner, Mason, and Phoebe. She was pre-deceased by her husband, parents, and three siblings Grace, Charles (Bud), and Florence.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11am, Sat., Jan. 2, 2016 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Benedicta. Spring interment will be in St. Benedict's Cemetery. To leave condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com
