Lawrence's Story

AUGUSTA - Lawrence Harold Mack, 56, of Colony Road, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Wurzburg, Germany on September 13, 1959, the son of William H. and Suzanne (Bockus) Mack.

Lawrence graduated from Mount Clemens High School in Mount Clemens, Michigan, class of 1977. In 1981, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed on the USS Forrest Sherman before being transferred to Argentia, Newfoundland. While in Argentia, he met his future wife Linda Polky, who was also stationed there. The two were married in September of 1984. Lawrence continued his military career until his discharge in 1986.

He had worked for the State of Maine as an IT Support Tech until his retirement in September of 2014. Lawrence enjoyed canoeing, fishing, ice fishing and playing disc golf with his friend Chad. He loved to cook outdoors on the grill for family gatherings and earned the nickname "Grill Master."

He was predeceased by his father Lt. Col. William H. Mack (RET.)

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Linda Mack of Augusta; his mother Suzanne B. Mack of Augusta; 2 daughters, Alyson Paige Mack of Portland, OR. and Rachael Elizabeth Mack of Windham; a sister Jennifer (Mack) Sprague and her husband Tom of Beverly, MA. and their daughter Delaney Sprague, also of Beverly, MA., as well as many other nieces and nephews

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, October 13 at the niches at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 828, Waterville ME. 04903-0828.
