AUBURN - Laurel A. Addison, 74 of Poland died Tuesday at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn following a long illness.
She was born February 5, 1942 the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Morrill) Vining of Auburn. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960.
On December 24 1960, she married Robert King, Sr. and moved to Bangor to raise their two sons David and Michael. She was always there for her son's many school and sporting events. While in Bangor she worked for WVII channel 7 television station which she enjoyed very much. She was also avid bowler and a member of the Family Fun Bowling Center league for many years. In later years when her boys were grown she moved to Howell NJ where she became a foster mother to many children. There was a special place in her heart for one little boy Brandon "Deedge" Chastine who will always be like her third son.
After she left New Jersey she traveled to Alaska, Germany then to Colorado and Virginia to spend time with her grandsons Christopher and Andrew.
Lori returned to Auburn in the late 80s to start the next chapter of her life and to be closer to the family camp on Upper Range Pond. She enjoyed spend hours working to clean the beach of all the weeds. She became a CNA and worked part time at the Auburn Residential Care on Summer Street. When she left the Auburn Residential Care home she went to work 10 more years at John F Murphy homes in Auburn. Helping people was her greatest joy and her license plate showed it "HUGGER2"
Once she retired she would knit kitten blankets for the Androscoggin Humane Society and volunteer at the Poland Community Church. Lori was a very large supporter of our military especially the Adopta-Platoon program which supplied care packages for the troops.
Lori leaves behind her son David and his wife Kathy of Yorktown VA, their sons Christopher of Palmer AK and Andrew of Yorktown VA, her son Michael and his wife Mila of Poland and their daughter Liliya, her sister Jean Marsden of Auburn, her niece Jo-Ellen Bourgoin of Auburn, her life long best friend Sylvia Friend of Auburn, Cheryl Marceau a very special member of our family, Brandon Chastine of Texas, as well as many very special nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two brothers Kenneth and Ronald Vining and her great nephew Adam Bourgoin.
The family would like to thank the Dr. Reilly and the many wonderful nurses on M1 at CMMC, Dr. Austin and the amazing nurses, staff and volunteers at the Androscoggin Hospice House.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 9, 2016 from 10-11am at the funeral home followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11am also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date.
