Keith's Story

CARIBOU - Keith F. Tarbox 78, died September 17, 2014 at Van Buren following a brief illness. He was born in Perham July 17, 1936 the son of the late Forest and Bernice (Dickinson) Tarbox. He attended school in Perham and was a 1955 graduate of Washburn High School. Several days after graduation, he enlisted with the US Army. Keith was employed as a truck driver, known as "Popeye" to his fellow drivers, beginning his career at Plourde and Hornbrooks. Keith was then employed by Mickey Carter Oil for 22 years, RH Fosters for 19 years and more recently Soderberg Construction. Keith was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Washburn Trail Runners and the Aroostook Valley ATV Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan and he also loved to watch high school basketball games, especially Washburn and Caribou High school games. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his family get togethers. He is survived by two sons: Forest "Bud" Tarbox and his wife Chink Cyr of Mechanicsville, MD.,and Barry Tarbox and his significant other Julie Belk of Gorham, his daughter and son in law Susan and Steve Sager of Caribou. Two grandchildren; Seth Sager and Sarae Sager both of Caribou. Two sisters; Dorothy Burrill of Cannan and Marjorie Baumgartner and husband Bill of Dalton, MA. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. Tarbox was predeceased by two children, Keith Jr. and Sylvia, siblings, Delmer, Doreen, Joanne and Paul Tarbox and a half-brother Gerald Dickinson. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 9:00am Saturday September 20, 2014 until time of services. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Saturday from the funeral home with Pastor Troy Heald, officiating. . Private family interment services will be in the Fairview Cemetery Perham.
