- Karen S. Burtt, 57, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, June 16, 2017, at Gardiner Health Care Facility while surrounded by her family. She was born January 9, 1960, in Houlton, the daughter of Paul Johnson and Betty (Belyea) Johnson Lindsay.
Karen grew up in Houlton and attended local schools. She worked at Houlton International as well as Burrelle's. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all was time spent with her grandchildren. Karen will be remembered as a compassionate and considerate person who always put others ahead of herself.
She is survived by her husband of twenty four years, Franklin D. Burtt of Monticello, two daughters, Reanna Smith and her husband Luke of Milo, Melissa Sylvia and her husband Jared of Houlton, four stepchildren, Shelley Morrill and her husband Robert of Massachusetts, Randall Burtt and his wife Jamie of Monticello, Adeline Burtt and Hans Burtt both of Minnesota, and thirteen grandchildren. She also leaves behind five siblings, Randy Johnson of Hodgdon, Sharon Welton of Houlton, Deanie Ivey and her husband Dale of Houlton, Christy Alward and her husband Dale of Florida, Adam Johnson and his wife Isabelle of Cape Elizabeth, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.
Friends may call 12 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Dunn Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jewell Cemetery, Monticello.
