- Joyce Ann Lavoie, 81, went to be with the Lord Dec. 23, 2017. She was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Newburgh, Maine, the daughter of Vinal S. Smith Sr. and Getrude Louise (Clements) Smith.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Aldred E. Lavoie; parents, Vinal and Getrude; brother, Victor Smith; sister, Juanita Stevenson.
She is survived by daughter, Ann Clark and Ted Crawford; grandson, Jeff Crawford and Bridget O'Connell; granddaughter, Sarah Crawford; great-grandson, Jonathan Crawford; brothers, Vinal and Carol Smith Jr., William and Patricia Smith III; sister, Rosita and Joseph Burns, Nancy Craven, Jennie and Mick Muncey; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Joyce grew up in Newburgh, Maine, one of eight Smith children, where she attender her schooling in a one room schoolhouse. From a young girl and throughout her life, she was a very strong woman and a hard worker.
She worked as a childcare provider, baby sitting many children. She later worked at Spot-Bilt Shoe Factory.
She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, baking, crossword books, puzzles, playing card games and watching her favorite TV shows.
She also enjoyed and loved her friends and especially her family, always making time for them.
Joyce was a loving, kind-hearted, affectional, one of a kind, exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
For all of those who knew and loved her, she will sadly be missed. May she rest in peace.
Funeral and graveside services will be held at a later date.
