OLD TOWN - Joseph K. Fournier Jr., 66, died peacefully December 7th 2015 surrounded by his family after a long and stubborn fight with cancer.
Born on French Island he was the son of Ken and Henrietta Fournier. He was a 1967 graduate of old town high school, excelling in both football and baseball.
Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served his country proudly in the 101st airborne division of the United States army.
He was an avid sports fan and his happiest days were spent swinging a golf club and yelling at the television while watching his beloved Patriots. Deer season meant a month at camp spending time with his boys, filling his belly with good food and losing his money at cards. Though he was stubborn and a little hard headed, Joe at a heart of gold and in the end he brought his family together for one last Patriots game, a little scallop dinner, some vanilla ice cream and lots of laughs.
Joe is survived by his four children; Brent Fournier and his wife Darcie of Milford, Corey Fournier and wife Charity of Glenburn, Brian Fournier of Greenfield, and Renee Day and her Husband Mike of Bradley. He was the proud peppe of 10 grandchildren; Stephen, Natalie, Kelsea, Cayden, Cayleigh, Marlie, Jasmine, Aliyah, Connor and Parker, Mother and Step-mother to his children, Cindy Sherburne and Cindy Fournier, two siblings, Libby Lizzotte and her husband Michael and Scott Fournier and his wife Kelly of Old Town. He also leaves behind his canine "little boy", Chewie. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Henrietta and his brother Wayne Fournier.
Friends may call from 5pm-7pm Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town, ME. A Committal service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11am at St. Joseph Cemetery in Old Town.
