Orland - With a smile on her face, Joanne Grindle passed away on February 2, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old.
Joanne was born August 12, 1936 in Mars Hill, Maine to Sarah and Ronald Brown. She graduated from Bucksport High School in 1954. Joanne worked at Fortin and Jewett in Bucksport and then went to work at Blue Hill Hospital where she retired to spend time with Clyde, family, and friends hiking, camping, swimming, and enjoying her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father and mother and sister Dawn Carlson and her brother-in-law Kenneth Carlson.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Clyde, her children Kenny Grindle, Alicia Dunbar and her partner Lori Marr, and Jason and Michelle Grindle, her grandchildren Paul Dunbar and fiancé Leah Ambrose, Joshua Dunbar and fiancé Sally Peckenham and great-grandaughter Robin, Scott and Lauren Grindle, Sarah Grindle, Kaylee Grindle and boyfriend Brent Chaffee, and Lindsey Grindle, a special niece Kenda Wallace, and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joanne had many special friends of which she spent time camping, hiking, traveling, playing cards, meeting for breakfast, and laughing until they cried. In her time of need during her cancer treatments she was helped out so much by these special friends and it kept her spirits up and meant the world to her.
We were very blessed to have had this amazing woman in our lives. She was the cornerstone-the heart and core of our family and we will forever remember her tireless efforts to make everyone feel happy and loved. Her home was always open to relatives and friends. Joanne was an amazing cook. She had a radiant smile that everyone loved. Joanne will be missed by so many. She was an amazing Nanie to her grandchildren and she spent many memorable hours reading to them, playing toys, taking them sledding, teaching them how to swim down to Craigs Pond, kayaking out to her camp on Alamoosook Lake and she loved them will all of her heart.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Orland Methodist Church in Orland Village on February 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Orland Parish Hall behind the church.
