Joan's Story

Text size

Bangor - My beloved mom Joan (pronounced Jo-Ann) was born in Old Town, April 16, 1932, the youngest child of Herman and Mary Siepert. She graduated from Old Town HS in 1951. She married Daniel Soucy on Jan. 20 1952. Shortly thereafter, they moved to New Jersey and welcomed their only child Jolynn to the family. They returned to Maine, moving to Hudson in 1973. Mom did secretarial work until her retirement from Prentiss and Carlisle in the 1980's. During that decade, her two grandchildren were born. She was delighted to be a Grammie and doted on Ryan and Jillian until the end. She was always so proud of them both and never missed an event they were part of. She returned to work at the Bangor Daily News processing plant until they closed in 2013. Mom always liked going places. It didn't matter where or what- she just loved going. We had some great times together and I truly have missed that the last few years. She also enjoyed eating lobster and drinking Bailey's along with other adult beverages, but the thing she loved the most was her family and we all knew that. Joan was predeceased by her parents, brother Ed and sisters Lucy, Adeline and Irene and husband of 61 years Dan. She leaves behind Jolynn and husband Terry Sullivan, granddaughter Jillian Canarr and her husband Jason, grandson Ryan Sullivan and wife Lisa and her only great grandchild, Jack. Upon her request, there will be no public service.
