- Joan Lorraine (Perry) Maher, born April 19, 1933, in Groton, MA, died June 9, 2018, of natural causes at the EMMC in Bangor.
She worked as a nurse for over 50 years, including more than 30 years as an LPN at BMHI in Bangor, where she loved working with geriatric patients. Everyone who knew her eagerly awaited her annual Christmas fudge and Date Lebkuchen. Our troops at the Bangor Maine Air National Guard looked forward to her regular visits with home baked cookies. She missed her calling, as she was an excellent cook of French cuisine.
She was predeceased by her mother, Grace Helen (Linnell) Chase of Bangor; father, Earl Albert Perry of Sangerville; sister, Rose Kathleen Friedmann of Bangor; sister, Patricia Earlene Grant of Sangerville; husband, John Stuart Maher, of Bangor and her youngest son, Keven Donald Randlett of Bangor. She is survived by her children, Laurie Jo (Randlett) LaHart of Pittsfield, MA, Thomas Merritt Randlett of Hartland, John Mallory Pittman of St. Albans, Cecelia Patricia Maher of Eagle River, AK, Stuart John Maher of San Diego, CA, and many several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Many years of agonizing physical suffering have passed and she is now at peace. In lieu of cards or flowers, please donate to the Bangor Humane Society, her favorite cause. Thank you.
Per her request, no services are planned.
