Jerry C. Jarrell

August 31, 1946 - August 29, 2018

Bangor Jerry C. Jarrell, 71, passed away at home surrounded by his family August 29, 2018, after a courageous yearlong battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was born August 31, 1946, in Stickney, WV.
The day after his high school graduation, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for four years, spending time in Goose Bay, Labrador, and the former Dow AFB, where he fell in love with his forever home, Bangor. Shortly after his military service, Jerry was given an opportunity to start a career in banking, which spanned nearly 50 years in Bangor. He worked tirelessly to help the common man and made a huge impact on small business statewide. He was recognized by the State Legislature for his accomplishments with the SBA.
Jerry's passion for helping people was instrumental in the formation of the well known St. Joseph Hospital annual golf fundraiser. In the 1990s, he established the start up of St. Mary's Daycare, which is ongoing today and has been a model for daycare providers everywhere. He loved to hunt, golf, play pool, and was an avid New England sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tricia; son, Ryan and partner, Katy Constant; son, Matthew and his proud four legged granddog, Duke; sister, Linda Sepser-Marco and husband, Joe, of OH; sister-in-law, Sister Judith McNamara, RSM, of Portland; brother-in-law, James McNamara and wife, Linda, of Brewer; sister-in-law, Sheila Bourbon and husband, Robert, of FL; many nieces, nephews and close friends; last but not least, his beloved golden retrievers, Halle and Bella.
The family would like to thank the Lafayette Cancer Center, in particular Dr. Cruz, and the nursing staff for their unwavering support and exceptional care over the past year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Daycare Center, St. Jude Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
Family and friends are invited to visit 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. All are invited to the church hall for a reception following the burial. Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com.

Today I received the word on Jerry's passing. I send my sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Jerry during my commercial lending days and learned a lot from him. Loved his passion for the art of the deal. I remember him telling me how he worked with the old-timer bankers, the folks, that made a profit but made sure the little league team had their uniforms. That's how Jerry ran his business. Great balance between work and community. It’s nice to take a moment and reflect on what you learned (directly or indirectly) from colleagues like Jerry and how important it is to pass those qualities on. Lastly, what a passion for golf he had. To this day, 20 + years ago, I carry ...in my bag the custom made clubs he built for me. Thanks for all you did for me Jerry. DaveRead more

We will dearly miss our wonderful friend, Jerry. Banking help early on, Bow hunting in Brewer, Playing pool in his cellar, and, of course, discussions in the fur shed that he liked so much, where we solved every world problem we could think of. God bless Tricia and all the family in this difficult time.

Very sorry to hear of my friend Jerry's passing. He was a special kind of guy , and one who enjoyed wearing one of his many "TW" shirts. Jerry was a person anyone would want as their banker. He always helped me during my business years, and we became "pass-by" friends. It seems he never forgot the people he met. Jerry would always smile, say hello and shake your hand whenever he met you.
My heart felt sympathy to the family.

Very, very sorry to hear this. Jerry was very important in my life as a friend and a banker. Town & country realtors would never have been what is was without him! And he helped me with my golf game.
