Ivan George Holt, 75, died at his home in Plymouth, ME on July 19, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born in Plymouth on February 16, 1941, the son of Moses and Lottie (Gray) Holt.
He was a graduate of Newport High School class of 1959. He retired from Brake Service and Parts Inc. in Bangor after 39 years of service.
Ivan enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly in brooks around his home and was always hoping to reel in the "big one." He also shared a love of science fiction with his son and his daughter. Ivan was a talented woodworker and enjoyed doing home repairs and building model airplanes. He also enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and family; including going on cruises and taking several road trips to Tennessee's Dollywood.
In addition to his parents Ivan was predeceased by three brothers; Lloyd, Charles, and Roland Holt, and two sisters; Thelma "Jackie" Holt, and Reta Moulton. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ardis (Lorom) Holt, a daughter Lorelei and her husband Matthew Bagley of Fort Worth, Texas, a son, Scott Holt and his fiancée, Dawn West of Newport, ME. Ivan was proud to be a grandfather to four grandchildren; Jacob, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Hannah, and looking forward to becoming a great grandfather (to Emily) in August.
At Ivan's request there are no services. The holt family is planning a celebration of Ivan's life and a date and time will be announced.
