FORT KENT - Huguette Ouellette Daigle passed away on June 1, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was married to her beloved husband, Armand, for 53 years.

Huguette was born in Baker Lake, New Brunswick on April 27, 1944, the daughter of Pea Ouellette and Regina Boutot. She attended elementary school in Baker Lake, NB and Cormier High School in Edmundston, NB.

In 1963, she started working at Princess Kent in Fort Kent as a seamstress then worked for Gerber Childrenswear as a floor supervisor until 1995. Due to illness, she left her job at Gerber at that time.

She went back to school and acquired her Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification, working for many years for Aroostook Home Health and CrossWinds residential facility in Fort Kent. She loved working with the elderly and the disabled. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann, the Lakeview Senior Citizens of Cross Lake, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a past hospice volunteer.

She and her husband spent several winters in Florida, which they both enjoyed very much, and spent summers at their cottage in Lac Baker, enjoying family and friends. They both enjoyed playing cards, especially Huguette: she played cards from Florida to Maine and Lac Baker. Huguette was an avid reader who loved to sew, knit, crochet, and most of all, enjoyed her two beautiful grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Armand Daigle; her son, Brian Daigle of Boynton Beach, Florida, and future daughter-in-law, Leona Gbedee of Monrovia, Liberia; her daughter, Sharon Daigle-Gerrish and her husband, William "Bill" Gerrish of Caribou, ME; one granddaughter, Brianna Gerrish, and her partner, Ian Mowatt of Caribou, ME; one grandson, Oliver Gerrish, of Caribou, ME; two sisters, Therese Bard of Baker Lake, NB and Francine (Donald) Deschene of Levis, Quebec; two brothers, Armand (Marie Claire) Ouellette of Baker Lake, NB, and Ronald Robert (Mary Ann Madore) Ouellette of Naugatuck, CT; four sisters-in-law, Delia Lesieur of Saco, ME, Rita Courtois of Biddeford, ME, Noella Daigle of New Canada Plantation, ME, one brother-in-law, Norman Daigle, of Cross Lake Township, ME; several nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Julie Daigle of Cross Lake Township, ME.
