He dedicated many days to the improvement of Kebo Valley Golf Club, including the repair of tees and the building of bridges, along with his good friends Jim Murray and Cary Swan. He also played at numerous golf courses throughout the State of Maine and Florida.
Hoyt had a love of boating, and owned many boats in his lifetime, often two or more at a time. He enjoyed numerous days on the water with his family, around MDI and Florida. He also had a passion for "digging in the dirt" with his many backhoes, dump trucks and heavy equipment.
After retirement, Hoyt and his wife, Nancy, spent numerous winters in Palm Beach Shores, Florida enjoying golf, boating, the beach, and their grandchildren.
