Helen Bowers Sherwood

Houlton - Helen Bowers Sherwood, 64, of Houlton, died peacefully Christmas morning at the home of her daughter. She was born May 1, 1954, in Island Falls, the daughter of Rodney and Phyllis (McLaughlin) Bowers.
Helen graduated from Katahdin High School in 1972, attended Husson College and NMVTI and received a degree in Nursing in 1985. She took great pride in her nursing career, devoting 30 years to caring for others before her retirement from Houlton Regional Hospital in 2015. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, country music, and most of all, spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Olivia Sherwood and Kimberly Buzzeo, both of Houlton; her grandchildren, Kole and Kennedy Buzzeo and many of their close friends; her brothers, William "Bill" and Allison Bowers of Cypress, CA, Chris and Betty Bowers of San Angelo, TX, Anthony "Tony" and Carmel Bowers of Island Falls; as well as one nephew; several nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. Helen was predeceased by her parents, and her niece, Mary Bowers.
Friends may call 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan 5th, 2019, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton, with funeral services at 12 p.m., officiated by Rev. Dale Holden. An interment will be held in the spring of 2019 at Sherman Mills Cemetery.
