- EAST MACHIAS - Harold Delbert Ingalls, 87, passed away on Nov 30, 2016 at the Marshall Healthcare Facility in Machias, after a long battle with COPD. Harold was born in Machias to John and Adele Ingalls on Feb 26, 1929. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurea Ingalls, his daughters, Shirley Walsh, Lois Lenfest, Sandra Ingalls, step daughter Karen Landry, and his sons, Robert Ingalls, Harold Ingalls Jr. and stepson Stephen Beskalo. He was predeceased by his son Arlington(Ollie) Ingalls and first wife, Marie. Harold also had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by his niece, Anne Delaware and nephew, Barry Zajack.
Harold retired from the Army after 22
years of service. He served in WW2
and the Korean War, for which he
received the Purple Heart medal.
After his Army service he moved to
Connecticut to work for Pratt & Whitney
and Electric Boat in Groton, CT. He moved
to Machias in 1977 and started a logging
and trucking business. Later he worked for
Albee Construction. He was a long time
member of the Machias American Legion
Post #9 and served as Commander from
1991 to 1994. The family will hold a memorial
ceremony at the Jacksonville Cemetery in East
Machias in the Spring, followed by a reception
at the Legion in Machias.
