NEWPORT AND PITTSFIELD - Grace (Anderson) Lindsay, 96, died October 22, 2014 at a Hartland healthcare facility. She was born April 18, 1918 in Crystal, a daughter of J. Walter and Doris (Weed) Anderson. She moved with her family to Newport at a young age, graduating from Newport High School, Class of 1936.

Grace and her husband Earl owned and operated the Yankee Restaurant in Newport for 22 years. It was a popular place to eat and visit with the "regulars" for all of those years. Grace was a member of the People's United Methodist Church, Past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs, Past Worthy Matron of Nokomis Chapter # 42, Order of the Eastern Star, past president and treasurer of the H. G. Libby National Women's Relief Corps, past president of Newport Senior Citizens and past president of the Barrows-Skidgel Post, American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son and wife, Maurice and Regina Lindsay of South Bristol and Lady Lake, FL; 2 daughters and their husbands, Erlene and husband, Dino Frost of Pittsfield, Sandra and husband, Dale McBurnie of Punta Gorda, FL; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Earl in 1988, Grace was predeceased by 2 brothers, Andy and Philip Anderson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 27th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to People's United Methodist Church, P.O.
