Grace's Story

HAMPDEN - Grace J. Johnson, 88, passed away peacefully October 16, 2014 at Westgate Manor where she had been receiving excellent care. She was born in Levant, a daughter William E. and Lillian L. (Brown) Randall.

Grace grew up in Levant and was a strong, hardworking and kind hearted woman. She retired from EMMC housekeeping dept. She enjoyed the company of her children, relatives, and friends. Collecting coins, reading, bird watching, good food, her crystals, attending Native American pow wows, and visiting her physicians, Dr. Rawcliffe and Dr. Bigda. She brought light to everyone she met and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

She is survived by her five children Trudy Dunton and her husband Junior of Hampden, Axel Johnson and his wife Cindy of Brewer Lake, Lenna St. Louis and her husband Tim of Eddington, Linda Valcourt and her husband Albie of Hampden, Jean Brooks and her husband Harry of Levant; seven grandchildren James Dunton and his wife Wanda, William Dunton and his Cristie, Cameo and Tim Larson, Eric Valcourt and wife Angie, Peter Valcourt and wife Anastasia, Anthony "Tony" Valcourt, Shawn Johnson, 12 great grandchildren; special friend Amadou; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Johnson in 1976, sisters Helen Houston, Mildred Bishop, Marion Crocker, brother Joseph "Buddy" Wheaton; grandson Shane Foster.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held Saturday November 1, 2014 at 1PM at the Hampden Snowmobile Club, Western Ave, Hampden. Arrangements by Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home 45 Western Ave Hampden.
