Gladys's Story

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Gladys M. Patten, 90, died Feb. 27, 2014, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 14, 1923, in Amherst, N.H., the daughter of Richard and Cevie (Towne) Weston.

She served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the rank of Staff Sergeant. She worked for several years as a cook for Hilltop Boarding Home in Dover-Foxcroft.

She was predeceased by her husband, Irving W. Patten; two sons, Frank and Pete; and a brother, Roger Weston. She is survived by a daughter, June Patten of Virginia; two sons, Donald Patten and his wife, Darlene, of Milo, and Ronald Patten and his wife, Karen, of Dover-Foxcroft; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Roberta Wilkins of New Hampshire, Nathalie Cast of New Hampshire, and Barbara Minor of California; and several nieces and nephews.
